I am not a crypto maxi.
I am very used to not being the smartest man in the room.
I don't really understand the blockchain and don't think I ever will.
That being said, a man much smarter than me once told me, "if you think crypto has more than a 0% chance of succeeding than you should own some."
I have always been weary but interested in the crypto space. It always felt like gambling, and I didn't have any money I was willing to lose. I opened a Coinbase wallet in 2015 but never funded it.
During the pandemic, like many others, I found myself with plenty of free time. I filled it with micro jobs, side hustles, and even full time second employment. In my opinion, If you have a cell phone and a bit of hustle, it is the easiest time in the history of humanity to make small additional sums of money.
In 2019, I started using a service called Amazon Mechanical Turk. You perform microtasks like verifying receipts for tiny amounts of Amazon.com credits. I used my amazon credits to buy Magic The Gathering cards which I would then sell on Ebay for hopefully more than my purchase price. Regardless the sale was all profit because I wasn't spending my money. At the time Ebay would only pay out in PayPal money and I had a miserable time getting PayPal to send me CAD to my bank account. I had to figure out how to spend it. I found myself with a hobby that was generating digital money, so why not get with the times and convert it to digital currency? I stumbled on a very rudimentary crypto exchange named PaxFul. They allowed you to buy and sell crypto using your PayPal account. I ended buying BTC for what I determined to be free because I never put any of my own money into this long string of transactions.
This is where my 1BTC project was born. I wanted a full coin and I did not want to pay for it with the fiat I earn in my regular job.
This blog will not be trying to predict price movement or future value of any cryptocurrency. I am trying to acquire 1 BTC.
I have been building my tiny BTC position since 2019. It is not big but I am learning different methods, strategies, and most importantly keeping my cost base as low as possible. I have been using various platforms to varying success.
I started keeping a notebook on all my crypto moves on September 9, 2022. I thought I would share it and continue it online so people can read about what works and what doesn't. I started my blog 1BTC in November 2022 where I keep running totals on my BTC position, my daily staking amounts, and a tally of the CAD I've spent on crypto.
I will continue to update my blog and post here as well on Publish0x.
1BTC is very different from other crypto writing so I hope you can take something from it.
