One of the easiest ways to get free crypto is the referral code. It is a means for exchanges and wallets to direct (and hopefully retain) business. Crypto-companies incentivize current users to be evangelists. It is effective but unfortunately give the entire space a multi-level marketing vibe.

I have many abandoned wallets. Some with bankrupt companies. That’s the whole game. Sign up for a new service, received the onboarding bonus, enroll in their newsletter, move the crypto to your favorite wallet and wait for an email bribing you to come back.
