This appears to be an ongoing and worrisome trend. We hit a Bitcoin all time high at $126,198 USD on October 6, 2025. When that happened faucets didn't immediately get tighter, but when the market tanked it seems like all my crypto income sources have become less easy. Not necessarily harder, just less easy. The biggest hit was Shakepay, but Bitcoin Miner, and Rollercoin as well.

The native tokens for these faucets got burned hard than everyone else (like XYO, SWEAT, or Pi Network).

I shouldn’t be too surprised by most of them. I fundamentally believe that any project featuring an unlimited liquidity faucet will struggle to gain real value as long as that faucet remains open.

Despite that skepticism, the COIN app has always treated me well. It sat right on the borderline of "fun," providing a few hundred XYO every quarter and turning my work trips into mini crypto-farming sessions. Whenever COIN trickled into my daily crypto chores, my primary focus was the Gamified Mental Exercise.

I was a huge fan of this feature. It’s a small engagement challenge where you solve puzzles to clear and reopen a geomine. Previously, the optimal strategy was 25 clears per round, which maximized the work-to-reward ratio. A month ago, you could solve 25 puzzles to earn 25 points per round, five times a day. This guaranteed a minimum of 125 points, plus whatever you collected along the way—usually totaling about 175 points daily (using the free plan with an NFC card). With consistency, you could hit a withdrawal every 57 days.

However, this technique has been nerfed dramatically. Now, you can only complete the Gamified Mental challenge once per day. This yields 25 points, and including the geomines collected while playing, you walk away with roughly 30 points. This single change has extended the withdrawal timeline from 57 days (2 months) to a staggering 333 days (11 months).

This strategy is no longer viable. If COIN continues to scale back its features at this rate, the app itself may soon become obsolete.
