This seems to be a very common question.
The answer is very simple: Bitcoin isn't ready for mass adoption:
1 - Is slow
One of the main problem of bitcoin network is the scalability issue and the fact that larger transaction will be executed before than the smaller ones. This is a huge problem in therm of adoption; the vast majority of the standard potential user isn't used to send big amount of money to their parents, imagine sending 50$ to your son and have to wait 6 hours. (Second layer solution isn't the answer because you have to trust the platform)
2 - It is too volatile
volatility is fine for short term speculation personally i made great profit by trading altcoins and leveraging bitcoin, but the long term is still unknown and you wanna cash out a little to pay your bills.
You can't borrow money and use bitcoin as warrant, nobody will accept that; imagine if you borrowed money at the top of 2017 bull market and now you have nothing to cover your loan!
3 - It is hard to use for old people

4 - liquidity is very low.
Bitcoin liquidity may seems high to newbie but try to sell 1 million in bitcoin without losing money! It's harder than you think.
Market depth is pumped by leverage trading and fake money usdt ecc. But at the of the day you don't buy bread with usdt! So when you wanna cash out you will look for dollars or as cryptofans like to call it " fiat money ". And guess what ? Fiat money liquidity is very low with big spread. Maybe usdt isn't the great thing that people expected.
This are my thoughts about bitcoin and its ecosystem, don't misunderstand my words: Bitcoin technology is great but its environment is s**t! (Scams, pump and dump & ponzi scheme)
Until these problems won't be fixed the question to the answer is:
No, Bitcoin isn't ready for mass adoption.
