A 1957 movie by Universal-International Pictures starring Jack Mahoney, Shawn Smith, William Reynolds, and Shirley Patterson.
A naval expedition goes to Antarctica to investigate a warm water lake as described by Admiral Byrd in 1947.
A group of three men and one woman fly via helicopter toward the lake but are called back due to bad weather.
Of course they crash and do not rendezvous with their support escort.
They are trapped in a volcanic crater that supports a jungle and Mesozoic creatures including a T-Rex and plesiosaur. There is also the mandatory fight scene of monitor lizards.
As far as 50s era creature features, this was pretty good. The acting was better than I had expected and the sets were not nearly as cheesy as in some that I have seen. The creatures were slow and lumbering but that was par for the course at the time.
While not great, the movie was worth a watch. I found it here The Land Unknown with no ads.
