UK Horse Racing Book Reviews

Experienced form student and handicapper. Experience tells me that it's hard to beat the bookies. I publish horse racing tips daily on OLBG (great sports betting community). I am Sixthformer on that platform (I did have a go at publishing daily tips on Publish0x which was going well but did my head in a bit). So I've changed this blog to book reviews looking at texts regarding horse racing selection and betting.

Interesting. The author's central thesis is 'You can't win at betting.' A plethora of mathematical p-values, t-tests, graphs and anecdotes is evidenced to push this point home. The author does a cogent job and has me convinced it can't be done. And t...

I'm very impressed. The author of 'Betting For A Living' has produced another ground-breaking, intelligent and insightful analysis of UK horse racing. It is another 'how to win at racing' book and early on I wondered if Mordin was covering ground fro...

Yesterday the 4.10 at Catterick went to Emma Beag at 12/1. 3-1 Fav Bitasweetsymphony set a harsh pace and burst a blood vessel before weakening late on. The selection The Black Squirrel may have needed the run. Struggling throughout the final circuit...

On Saturday I admit I seemed to have no idea about the handicap hurdle at Ascot. Malaya ran poorly and couldn't keep up with the pace set by Shannon Bridge who was an impressive winner for the Skeltons. Arrivederci ran third. I'm sorry to say that L'...

Yesterday  Poetic Choice (the selection) ran pretty well in the 6.30 at Dundalk to finish 6th of 14 runners yesterday at odds of 25/1. Only beaten a few lengths. Neyland was well backed and won at 7/2. Today's Race  A Class 2 handicap hurdle at Ascot...

Yesterday the selection Jepeck ran a super race at Sandown Park at 18/1. What a strange racehorse he is. Gave his all. Flew the second last fence before refusing at the final fence when still in contention. Eclair Surf was well backed and won as favo...

Yesterday Venetia Williams' Arqalina was sent off 4-1 Fav and made all to win by five lengths from Pottlereaghexpress in the 2m5f handicap chase at Hereford. The selection Oakley Hall was supported in to 12/1 but lacked fluency with his jumping, fini...

Yesterday Chosen World may have been much closer with a proper pace on but finished fifth. Saisons D'Or returned to action after a lengthy break off a low mark and won at 14/1. Jack Garritty was able to set a slow pace and stay on to win. The course...

Yesterday first time cheekpieces and a sharp track suited Two For Gold who finally made good on the potential he had previously shown. He beat Aso a neck in what looked a good race. Smarty Gold ran reasonably enough but could not make up ground on th...

Yesterday Dounikos ran very well for each-way purposes and secured fifth place at 40/1. The advised e/w bet was akin to backing a winner at 7/2. Stablemate Monbeg Notorious ran even better in fourth at 50/1. The Big Dog landed the big gamble, narrowl...
