Yesterday
Venetia Williams' Arqalina was sent off 4-1 Fav and made all to win by five lengths from Pottlereaghexpress in the 2m5f handicap chase at Hereford. The selection Oakley Hall was supported in to 12/1 but lacked fluency with his jumping, finishing some way back in sixth place.

Today's Race
A Class 3 handicap chase over 3 miles at Sandown (heavy going). The RP forecast went 5/1 the field but the bookies are less generous than that overnight.

Today's Contenders
Bobo Mac must be respected following a fine run in the Welsh National last time. Eclair Surf can probably outstay Francky du Berlais over three miles and is another to consider for the win having shown a lot of promise in just six races under rules.

Highest Sun's last two races have been in class 2 competition. 1 from 9 chase wins tempers enthusiasm and he looks worth opposing at a short price. I'm not very keen on Eclair De Guye. Cuban Pete merits respect for the in-form Venetia Williams.

Skipthecuddles' last run suggests he retains some ability after a long absence. Spider's Bite and As You Like would have definite claims on their best form but have both been running very poorly. Dark Flame struggled on his return from a long absence but is on a very low mark. Having twice run well previously at Sandown he is considered.

Sandown Park is a course which often favours specialists and I'm opting to go with Jepeck each-way. Stays all day when he wants to and likes soft ground. He has a quite strong tendency to lose focus in his races. Won the Veterans Chase here in January 2020 (Dark Flame back in 5th). His first two starts this season were disappointing. There was a bit more to like when back here last time against some smart sorts. He has lost his way a little form-wise but this is a drop in class. Anthony Honeyball (22%) and Rex Dingle (14%) both have excellent strike rates with chasers. It may be too soon to give up on Jepeck and he is the each-way selection.
