WELCOME

After having made a short script on the paths of Santiago, I started to think in a different way.
Most of us do not value what we have around us and we will see "beautiful" things away from our home when we do not visit or what we have around.
Based on that today, I took a road and went to know a little more about where I live

Well this will probably be my first project in which I want to show you what is Best in vila do conde

Right at the entrance of the city and as a symbol of it we find the monastery of Santa clara, and those who visit the city are inevitable to pass by it and not look at the immensity it has.

En 2021 this monastery will become a hotel, as it was sold to private individuals but there is a law that it is mandatory to preserve it as on the outside

Convento de Santa Clara is located in the city of Vila do Conde, district of Porto. It was a female convent established in 1318 and extinct in the 19th century. From the old complex, we have the magnificent Gothic church and part of the convent building.
After the extinction of religious orders and the death of the last nun, the convent was degraded. In 1902, the convent was converted into a correctional facility for children that remained operational until 2007.
The building over the years started to deteriorate needing a lot of works, this one still being public property, in which due to lack of resources and with the years to pass it starts to need strong works. After several attempts to restore the state, nothing worked, in 2015 the hotels "Pestana" tried to present a proposal to remain with the public building, in which the government refused to sell since it is the great patrimony of this city.
In 2018, the state rented it for 50 years to make a hotel in exchange for the respective requalification
This building will come to life in the year 2021 as a 5-star hotel and with about 90 rooms, however, the roots still remain, thus maintaining the entire external structure, including the gothic church and the free water aqueducts that were used To take water from one side of the city to the other, as shown in the photos.

At the end of the day, I pass this monastery every day and I never had the opportunity to visit it from the inside. It is a pity, however, the views are fantastic.
Whoever stays in this hotel can count on many visiting opportunities that I will leave in the next post.
This city is a combination of Agriculture with the Sea, very good people and a lot of history, probably one of the most important cities in terms of history to date in Portugal. It was like a haven for the high nobility and the clergy and with that they left marks of their existence throughout the city
see you soon thanks for watching subscribe so you can see my itinerary
