When you are new to splinterlands it might be difficult to come up with some decent low level strategies. The "Bronze strategies" series aims to help new players out with coming up with good strategies resulting in higher win rates.

In this post I will cover the dragon splinter, with Brighton Bloom as the summoner

About Brighton Bloom

Brighton was an eccentric young man of Shimmer City, the capital of Khymeria. He was always seen as a strange character among the Khymian summoners. In the best times, his peers thought he was simply a distraction from their important studies. In the worst times, his fellow summoners doubted and belittled Brighton’s abilities. They were also put off by the way birds always landed on his hands and shoulders. After just two years studying at the Shimmer summoning school, Brighton decided to leave Khymeria. His loyalty was available to the highest bidder, and that is where the Dragons came in.

The Gloridax cared not for Brighton’s strange idiosyncrasies; what mattered to them was his skills as a summoner. Furthermore, in Gloridax eyes oneness with birds has long been considered a sign of divinity. Brighton’s attraction to birds was quickly noticed by Suam Khepri, Empress of the United Gloridax, who assigned a team of aerial sorcerers to properly train the young man. When Brighton emerged from that training, he could grant the power of flight to any monster under his summoning control.

Brighton Bloom is a 4 mana dragon summoner that gives all friendly monsters the flying ability. This makes him a very situational summoner, but also pretty straightforward in terms of strategy. Use him for (some) earthquake battles!

Game plan

This strategy guide is a bit different than other strategy guides because Brighton Bloom isn't directly linked to a specific strategy. The biggest struggle is knowing when you should use him... and no, you don't want to use him for every earthquake battle (even though you will often get away with it in novice and bronze).

So the general game plan is easy right? You want to give your monsters the flying ability so that they don't take damage in a battle where the earthquake condition is in play.

In terms of strategy, this is pretty easy. However, one thing to keep in mind is that you care more about surviving than on dealing damage in a battle where the earthquake condition is applied. The reason for this? Simple, the earthquake will deal damage for us, so as long as we can survive, we are basically dealing damage (even when we are not actually dealing damage). All that being said, this does not mean that you have to focus too hard on surviving. I feel like the best way to play brighton is to simply play what you would play in a game where the summoners are silenced... My go-to is usually fire, but this can basically be any splinter, the splinter you feel most comfortable with.

Also, the snare ability can be decent, but you should also not overvalue this. Ofter, you will snare the frontline tank of the enemy, (this will only matter if their frontline tank is a flying creature to begin with) but the frontline tank of the enemy will often be death before the earthquake damage has a chance to hit. Sure, it can be very strong from time to time, but it's a bit situational. I will use mitica headhunter very often when I'm playing brighton with an earth splinter, but this is also because I consider this a pretty strong card in general, the snare ability is a nice extra.

Conclusion, there is no specific brighton-related game plan. Simply play your best setup with silenced summoners (or anticipate the strategy of your enemy, if you can make an estimated guess).

When to play brighton bloom

As I already mentioned, a big part of this strategy is simply knowing when you should play Brighton. To be honest I don't pick him that often, but when I do, I usually win.

These are my stats from last season, as you can see, I only used Brighton in 18 games (3.85% of my total played games). However, I did win 94.44% of my games when I actually played him (meaning I won 17 out of 18 games).

So what's the secret? Use him in earthquake games (duh...) but also, don't play him in very high mana games or very low mana games, I feel like there is a sweet spot at 25-35 mana (but it does feel difficult to actually put a number on this). As usual this also depends on the other battle condition as well.

In low mana games I feel like alric + low mana flying magic monsters are stronger, or even a kitty + flesh golem, but if the stronger options are not possible, brighton will still be a good plan B in low mana games.

In high mana games, the flying ability simply gets overclassed by what the 7 mana summoners can provide. The yodin buffs for example will be more valuable than the flying ability, even in those earthquake games.

Conclusion

Brighton is still one of the cheapest summoners out there and I feel like a lot of novice, bronze, silver and even gold players do not understand how strong he is. Sure, you will only be able to use him effectively in a fraction of your games, but you will win a very high percentage of the games where you actually feel confident to use him, simply look at my stats.

It's also a pretty straightforward strategy, the only thing you have to learn maybe a little bit is when exactly you should use him, but this shouldn't be too hard either.
