We are out at the wildlife management area closed off to vehicles due to fallen trees. As we walked through the trail we were the first in awhile as the area was filled with spider webs.
As we hiked through the area and came across some aerial roots from a Muscadine vine. Up in the tree canopy there is an old vine growing and its dropping down roots from over fifteen feet up in the tree canopy. This was the first time I noticed such vines growing from above, they are known as aerial roots.
An old log we came across showed its history in the forest, and at some point there was a fire in the woods shown by the burnt rings on the tree.
A big mushroom had a few bites taken out of it, freshly sprouted and we saw many other mushrooms on the trail as well.
