My first attempt in capturing a base in the Military HQ zone failed. I lost all of my squad and I had to restore from a earlier save game. This time around I attempt to take over a different base. And luckily I have cover at this location. There were some guards in the front that needed to be taken out but not like before where a whole squad was going against my Monolith invasion squad.
As I enter the base, I got a creepy message on the the PDA saying "The non-believers are decreasing in number" In reference to Monolith. Its a religious militia that has no allies. Just themselves, making anyone not believing in the Monolith culture an enemy.
I get to the center of the base and call my squad in. Though they are followed by Military in the area. Waiting for them to arrive in the outpost I collect ammo and items from dead bodies.
As the military approached I opened fire on them across the pond. Making it very difficult for them to walk up on us. Maybe I should have waited until they were on the bridge to group them up but oh well got a little over excited to finally take the battle to the enemy. Seeming like the great swamps were a big barrier to Monolith taking over.
I did lose most of my squad in the battle, but at least it was a more fair fight and so the military lost alot of units too. By the time I was down to one other squad member as I cleared the area.
