We brought the Canoe along and planned on exploring the waters in the Chattahoochee River. Hiking the trails have been alot of fun, ive been to this spot many times and never went past the thick brush where the trail ends. Though its a park located in a suburb so it would be pretty hard to get lost.
Also, dont mind the bullet holes in the sign.

Many signs along the approach to the old bridge, giving stating caution. People have climbed up the bridge and jumped off into the waters.
We walk the Canoe down to the water, this was pretty difficult as at the time the straps were broken on the Canoe. That required us to carry it by the body and was damn heavy that way.
The waters were calm at the launch point for the Canoe, but going more than fifty yards in ether direction the current picked up and found ourselves over powered.
History in this area can be found online and goes back to the 1800s when the bridge was built. Now a days its just a relic in a park but cool to see what it looked like way back.
Seeing an abandoned bridge had a special feeling to it, just seeing the skeleton and completely impassable makes me just stare at it. Looking back at the pictures from when it was built, it appears the water used to be much higher in the past.
People have tied ropes to the bridge to use to jump off off into the water, some appeared to have frayed. Even a tagger got up there.
Looks like someone shot at the iron beams, bullet holes and rust lines can be seen to the very most left hand side of the bridge.
It was alot of fun exploring this location on the Canoe and bringing along my camera. It also made me curious to explore the past history of the location and glad I found some old pictures of this bridge from the past.
