I am glad to see the bees have returned after the winter, I sometimes get this feeling as if they will not return but they always seem to come back.
Having plants that they like is a great photo opportunity and I captured some close ups of honey needs on a leatherleaf plant. There are others they find in the early spring, but this is one of the few they are able to find so close to the end of winter.

The bees travel around the stems, checking out each flower. They really seem to find the best ones to get their nectar from. Sometimes knocking off flowers as they move around.
Hah that honey bee has its whole head stuck in that flower. Im sure its a happy bee going after that pollen and nectar. The holly like plant has alot of nutrients in it so makes sense.
And a close up of one of the honey bees, they are longer and bigger than mason bees. Also, if I handle them they may sting me, unlike the Mason Bees that only sting if you crush them or really threaten their life.
