I set up my new camera on a tripod, and had it record me pulling up the Sweet Potatoes. I used a small hand rake and separated the vines so I could see the surface of the bed. Lovely Logic holds a bucket for me and I pass her spuds as I pull them from the ground. There were many spuds sticking out from the ground under the vines. Might need to add more growing media (hay hopefully) next year. The Ruth Stout method using hay is something I want to explore more of. Dirt is hard to work with, especially our red Georgia clay.
I come across a massive spud, over five pounds just by its self. I was amazed by the size of it. The same spud in the cover video.
I clean them all off and set them up on a table. I go through them one by one and show them off. Besides a few having some holes in them from critters testing them out they came out great. We can just cut off the parts were bugs started making holes in them.
Looking forward to growing them again next year, we went through all fifteen pounds in about 2 months. So I want to grow many times more in the future and maybe I can have enough year round.
We were amazed in the yield we got, and the taste of these fresh Potatoes is like nothing else.
