Publis0x, as we know, is a blogging site where we can share and create content with like-minded individuals. This concept isn't a new one, and it's not a concept that is going anywhere anytime soon. Publish0x differentiates itself from the rest of the platforms we normally use by rewarding creators and readers alike. When was the last time someone paid YOU to read the newspaper?
The question I am bringing forward now is WHAT TYPE of content are we publishing on Publish0x? I do not mean what subject matter we are talking about but rather the style of content we are creating. Publish0x does not currently have a mobile app (fingers crossed?) but can easily be viewed on a mobile device. Because I use my smartphone much more than a desktop, I am constantly viewing and reading articles on a smaller screen and I am usually on the go or somewhere where I need to be easily mobile. Given these situations, do you think I'd rather commit to a large time consuming article or would I rather read a quick blurb and not get interrupted?
I think the answer is pretty clear, and Publish0x does a great job of helping to see what type of content you are about to consume! You'll notice this platform gives you a heads-up on the length of the article you are going to read. When I'm scrolling the landing pages looking for a new article to read I almost always look for the length of the article before even looking at the subject of the article.
For me, the shorter the article, THE BETTER. However, this does not mean that I want to read something that is filled with fluffy and useless content. I still come across a lot of shorter articles that are one or two paragraphs and by the time I'm done reading I feel like I haven't learned or gained anything. That's not a very good way to provide value for your readers! On the flip side of this, I have tried to read large articles and have run into the same problem. I can commit over 5 minutes to reading and still feel like I've gained nothing by the end of the article.
It is possible to have small articles that are short, sweet, and to the point. They provide value to the reader and they are not consuming the readers time in a negative way. If you expect to earn your tips and feel like a top-notch journalist, shouldn't you want to create content that provides something positive for your readers?
This isn't to say the large, well-researched and well-designed articles aren't the way to go and aren't going to earn you tips and praise. It's just a matter of knowing who you're aiming your content to and what is more likely to get eyes. I will admit, there are some times that I want to pour my heart and soul into an article and make it as grand as possible. But at other times, as sloppy as this sounds, I want to provide my audience with a few pictures and blurbs about what happened during the day. You can see this in my portfolio updates posts. My goal with those posts is to give nothing put facts and visuals and have the readers leave comments if they have any questions or corners.
So, take a step back. What type of content are YOU producing and consuming? Are you snacking on "Pop-Corn" content or are you feasting on a Full-Course Dinner?
