Henri Bergson and Soros' Mission of "Opening up" Your Societies

By rhyzom | rhyzom | 31 Jan 2021

Now, I was recently a bit shocked to discover that Henri Bergson, whose main corpus of work I've found mighty useful and generally a figure I admire (his so-called "method of intuition", or immediate access to absolute knowledge in the process of "becoming", as opposed to the analytically-partial knowledge of utilitarian and purpose-oriented reductionism), had also briefly slipped into the political arena, being an instrumental figure in the founding of the League of Nations (which eventually became the UN) and a major influence in the establishing of the Ba'athis parties in the Middle East. But, even more importantly, this idea of a dichotomy between open and closed societies - the former defined by subscribing to moral universalism. Now, every time i hear anybody claiming universalism, I reach for my holster, but this is even more problematic as the consequence of it has been George Soros (who prefaced one of his talks that I've listened to, modestly defining himself as a "failed philosopher") - who, ever since robbing the UK in the billions overnight and leaving many unemployed and on the streets, has been on his life long mission of opening the fuck out of your society. Ironically, by quantitative means of numerical self-same divisible and inert media, namely money as universal equivalent of measure - in sharp contradiction with Bergson's overall philosophy and metaphysics.

Now, money being social power and leverage with the capacity to finance various operations, as well as corrupt and lobby politicians, it is interesting to note and keep in mind what those multi-billionaires having concentrated and accumulated as such have in mind as their end goals and missions - at least those that do. And they all seem quite delusionally detached from reality in their ambitions of planetary grandeur. Some want to move manufacturing on Mars, or colonize it, and Soros wants to unify humanity around some kind of moral universalism (a bit like Islam, most Muslims do actually deep down believe that the world will be just fine when everybody becomes Muslim - some proceed using violent means and radical measures of coercion and subjugation, others are peaceful and go about that in good will, but it is also a religion which claims universalism and tends to be totalitarian in nature, in how it penetrates every sphere of life - from social and political, to inter-personal, familiar and individual).

An example of yet another thing gone terribly upside-down wrong before even applied in practice.
