Splinterlands Battle Mage Challenge: Wands Out!

By RealSociology | Retire by 50 | 7 Oct 2023

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Wands Out in which only monsters with magic attack may be used in battle...

Wands out general strategy....

Personally I prefer an all out magic attack and to hell with the risk of coming up against someone who plays a defensive strategy such as playing lot of reflect monsters.

So I usually opt for a plus magic attack monster, such as Delwyn in the case below, or Valnamor of course!

Dragons, Water, Earth are all good magic splinters, so plenty to choose from.

I also sometimes play VOID shield, LOVE that ability, and phase, as well as reflect, so I do give a nod to defensive!

Also, you can use those double attack cards as I do with the battle below!

Wands Out battle exemplar

The battle below shows a cheek win in which I use an awesome high mana card to lambast my way to victory!

Mana and rulesets:

  • 20 mana

  • Agor LongTail - what else do you need!?!

The battle...

  • round 1 - I BLAST OUT the Mermaid!
  • round 2 - It's all over, I BLAST and MAGIC out the remaining two cards!

Final battle analysis

Agor LongTail is just awesome - two attacks meant two blast attacks on low health monsters, which both fell very quickly.

The fact that I only had ONE monster also nullified the blast affect from my opponent!

Not the best choice of cards for summoner rom my opponent there either!

Wands Out Final Thoughts...

Or there's always KRON!

In the summer of 2014, when I turned 41, I set myself the goal of retiring from paid-work by the age of 52. This blog charts my own strategy and progress, and explores different theories of financial independence and 'extreme early retirement'. It also provides the odd tip on how you might also retire early!
