In October last year, tZERO announced a partnership with Alliance Investments. This partnership would be the basis to launch a series of STO's (Security Token Offerings) on Tezos. The first project they plan to tokenize is River Plaza, which is a luxury residential development in Manchester, UK. This will be the first real estate STO in the UK, the tokenized value of this first project will be at least $25 million. After tZERO and Alliance Investments issue their first STO project, a series of STO's will follow. A total of about $640 million valued in real estate projects in the UK will be issued over the next few years.

The first STO was expected to be launched in Q1 of 2020 on the Tezos blockchain. This target date has not been met, but progress on the implementation of Tezos support on the tZERO platform has been made. Today, tZERO announced that their digital Securities Protocol now supports Tezos. Tezos is the first Blockchain other than Ethereum that is now supported on tZERO. The choice for Tezos was made by tZERO because "several issuers have expressed interest in Tezos." One of those issuers obviously being Alliance Investments.

“The Tezos Foundation has been remarkably strategic in its efforts to make Tezos become the blockchain for digital securities, and we are pleased to support them in our open-source protocol,” stated tZERO CEO Saum Noursalehi.

STO's are tokenized, traditional real-world assets. The purpose of creating STO's is to make traditional investing easier and to improve liquidity of certain private assets. STO's are a potential billion dollar market.
