It has been another restless night. With so many extraordinary things happening and another year about to come to a close, perhaps I'm too excited to sleep. Whatever the reason, I have rolled out of bed in the middle of the night and here I sit, buying digital assets for Mirandus, the upcoming MMORPG from Gala Games. So here is a little article to share what I know and why I am buying land/property in this incredible in-development game.
First, in order to purchase land, you'll need to create a free account at Gala Games. Because Gala is a play-to-earn gaming company in which blockchain transactions are used, the account creation process is a bit more involved than a typical game account. With your account creation you'll be setting up your own wallet with which you can transact on the blockchain.
Because of the blockchain nature of Mirandus, future players can actually own assets in the game, using them to produce, craft and create rewards and possibilities. This is a huge part of the play-to-earn vision of Eric Schiermeyer (CEO), Michael McCarthy (President of Games), and the rest of the amazing team at Gala Games who promises to make Mirandus a trend-setting, revolutionary new type of RPG.
The first game presented by Gala Games (TOWNSTAR) has been met with overwhelming success and continued to grow at an incredible pace in terms of development, community and active user base. This is because the team behind Gala really knows games. The have a strong and varied presence in the history of gaming, having helped to bring you household names such as Zynga, Farmville and Words with Friends. I believe (as I have said before) that the Gala team has what it takes to elevate play-to-earn and blockchain onto the mainstage of gaming all over the world.

The Mirandus Presale
In a new type of crowdfund that only blockchain can provide, future players and early adopters have the opportunity to not only support the development of the game, but also to give themselves a strong advantage toward playing (and earning) in the future. Some of these early supporters will be able to create a passive income for themselves, to earn the equivalent of an actual paycheck from the game. I'm not saying that anyone who purchases land in Mirandus will become rich or that they will never have to work again. Simply playing the game and maintaining your properties will of course be work, but for those of us who love RPGs... I can hardly imagine something I would rather be paid for than playing a game.
I especially love this form of crowdfund because as I said above, it rewards players in untold ways, mostly for the faith that they share in the team behind the project. I am also involved in the creation and execution of another such land sale from SPLINTERLANDS, in which $20 Plots are still available for $14 (a 30% discount) until the end of the year. Like Mirandus, property in the Praetorian Land Expansion of Splinterlands will carry value untold and various degrees of lucrative utility. I encourage you to sign up for Splinterlands as well and consider buying some land, especially while it is still available at a discount.
Why So Rewarding?
For a massive undertaking such as Mirandus, development funds are more than crucial to success. When a company such as Gala knows that they will succeed, they are able to offer rewards in extremely generous and unique ways. My favorite unique aspect that promises these rewards is scarcity.
Pictured below is a snapshot from the Mirandus presale page of a few property types available for ownership. Notice the supply in the top left corner of each listing that I have circled in red. This is scarcity. Homesteads, the most affordable land type currently valued at about $100, are selling quickly. Once they are gone, there will be no more sold in presale.
You'll also notice above that the Villages of the Baron and Viscount both carry large price tags and even greater scarcity, with only 20 of each in existence. Their current prices (when converted to USD) are $10,000 and $20,000 respectively, but that has not stopped several of them from already being sold. This is because those who know they are on the forefront of a huge industry (virtual gaming asset ownership) know that these are less purchases and more investments.
By the way, this is not investment advice, and you should always do a vast amount of your own research before you commit to any kind of investment. I will not pretend that there are no risks involved with this type of purchase. Nobody can predict the future value of these assets, but it can be assured that the assets will be yours if you purchase them.
How Quickly They can Go
In an eye-opening example of how quickly these assets can sell once their in-game utility is released, leaked or hinted, take a look at the Stable. Following a recent Gala post called "Saddle Your Mounts" in which plans about Stables were released, nearly all available Stables sold like wildfire burns. They were sold out almost immediately once the post was released. This means that eager, quiet and strategic future players are waiting like sharks for a mere hint of utility to be released. Once they have it, they will buy.

Attention to Gala Games, Townstar and Mirandus is always growing as the company continues to make exciting announcements daily. Jason Brink, Chief Marketing Officer, leads an honest and genuine marketing effort that focuses on intensely rewarding early adopters and those who have supported the company since its first days. In my opinion, it is only a matter of time before this entire Mirandus Presale page is picked clean like the cattle bones in the Minotaur King's lair.
There are many types of land deeds available in Mirandus, and it is the land owners who will benefit the most from the game's economy. People who own buildings (but not land) will need to rent land from a land owner in order to place their buildings and earn from them. So very much like in life, those who own the land will reap the greatest rewards. This is why land carries such a price.
On one end of Mirandus deeds, there is the Homestead ($100 - limited to 1000) and the Outpost ($500 - limited to 200). These are the cheapest land plots that can be owned in the game. On the other end (the extravagant end) are the 5 Citadels. They are each 1/1 only, and they each (currently) cost $500,000. To own one of these Citadels cements a player's position as one of the Kings of Mirandus. None of them have been purchased yet, but I expect the first to be sold in the next week or so, with the others to soon follow.
What am I Buying?
I am extremely excited for the release of Mirandus (TBD 2021) and am basically buying whatever I can. That does not mean that I'm cashing in all my savings or cleaning out my bank account to do so. My journey through blockchain, play-to-earn gaming and NFTs has been a constant road of diversification. I am continually acquiring more digital assets across different types of games, collectibles and cryptocurrencies. As these piles grow (as do their values), I always make sure to invest what money I can into new projects from money generated by previous successes. Mirandus is currently a strong focus of mine.
I have been buying the smaller things from the Mirandus Presale. Tonight (just before I began this article in fact) I purchased 2 more Homestead deeds and several small buildings from my GALA balance.
Above is proof-of-Archery. I also picked up a Weapon Stand and an Armor Stand. I am beginning to form basic strategic plans with what little I know about the details of the upcoming game. I will attempt to have a cluster of Homesteads, each with a different focus. One will farm, another will produce and hold weapons, another will create and sell potions, etc.
Because I do not think many people have yet realized all the information I have shared above, I am buying Homesteads as often as possible before they are gone. Three are now held in my GALA wallet, and a fourth is embedded in my limited edition Minotaur King crystal sculpture that recently arrived in the mail. Check it out!
It is my intention to leave the code unredeemed, but if I decide that the potential value of the Homestead will be greater if it is put to use than the collectible value of keeping it safely within the sculpture, I'll redeem it in a hurry.
