Splinterlands has had a long and winding road of many successes to lead to where they are today.

The game began in early 2018, and the Alpha playable version began in May of that same year. I am proud not only to have been in the Discord chat where it was first explained to a small community from MSP-Waves and Steemit friends, but one of the very first players to ever purchase cards. 

Few people know this about me (in spite of my best efforts) but I hold the first Legendary Splinterlands card ever created. Back then, Legendaries didn't rumble and shake the way they do now, and to be completely honest, I don't specifically remember the moment of its revealing. That's the way these things work... you never realize that you're part of history until years later. ;)

For over two years, Splinterlands has enjoyed win after win. They have continued to make updates that are beneficial to both the long-term sustainability of the game and the community, to whom the vast majority of rewards are given back.  They have forged rich relationships with other companies across the crypto world, and it is only a matter of time before the level of Splinterlands is kicked up into the stratosphere by some angel investor who sees its potential like I do.

I'm happy to say that as the Content Director, I can take a fair amount of credit for many of these successes. Still, I have little to do with the development and design of the actual game. For the vision in the first place, credit goes to co-founding partners Jesse Reich and Matthew Rosen, who have both stayed in the trenches and continued fighting for both Splinterlands and Play-to-Earn as an ideal. With such brilliant game mechanics, and an incredibly addictive pack-cracking experience designed by Nate Aguila, they could have charged more, given less back, or gone straight for a mainstream game publisher. They did not. Their mission was and always has been to give as many streams of revenue as possible to the players, not the company.

It is in this spirit of giving back that they are now bringing the Land Expansion into the game. It is still a ways from release, which is expected sometime in the middle of next year. But for the last couple months, Splinterlands has been promoting an amazing opportunity to own land in the Splinterlands. They have released as many details about this expansion as are currently available, and they have made it 1000% worth your while to get involved. That extra zero was not a typo.

The Land is Cheap and Scarce

This land, on the Wizards' continent of Praeotoria is highly undervalued at a "retail" price of $20 per Plot, blowing many of the other land sales away in terms of both price and value. Only 150,000 total Plots of Alpha land will ever be available, and let's face it, that is not enough to go around. In the 3rd Stage Presale (12/19), Plots will only cost $14 each, with added bulk discounts and extra perks that will not be available again.

The Land is Fully Transferable

This is your insurance policy against "holding bags," a fear of everyone who has ever over-purchased cryptocurrency or digital assets. Although the in-game utility of this land will not be released for several months, the Plots themselves can be traded as fungible tokens on HIVE-Engine, the layer 2 DEX (Decentralized Exchange) of the HIVE blockchain.
