Pulling myself up by my bootstraps as they say, from playing on the streets for a few dollars a day to making demos and even landing a couple of gigs in the acoustic tent at a local festival. I have an unflappable fan base of nearly 1500, have taken numerous production lessons, and have band members waiting on the sideline for me to get my shit together.

(Well then, get your shit together. Get it all together. And put it in a backpack. All your shit. So it’s together. - Morty)

It's been ten weeks I guess, based on the title of my last post. But at this point counting the weeks is behind me. I'm in for the long haul here!

At the beginning, Rising Star is a very simple and pretty repetitive game, especially for someone coming into it with a free to play account. But over time, as you reach certain milestones, new layers of complexity are exposed, from maximizing your energy with coffee and pizza, to balancing Ego and skill levels while also managing Fans and experience levels. And I know there is more ahead with adding band members and touring and I am excited to see what real fame is like!

In the meantime, I have been focusing my efforts on gaining levels and working up to the Band Auditions stage of the game. The EXP boost cards have helped tremendously in that regard. I only have five of the XP +10 cards (other sizes are +50 and +100), but I'm now rapidly approaching level 50, gaining about a level a day.

With the self-imposed hiatus on buying Fan cards, and the exorbitant expense for EXP cards, I decided to use some of my hard earned Starbits to purchase the special Halloween themed musician, Undead Fred!

This allows me to run the Halloween Spooktacular mission (only available through the end of October), which doesn't provide any value aside from the 10% chance to receive a limited-time-availability, themed instrument. It took me abut a dozen tries before I had success, and I scored the Drumkin, which is the instrument I had most wanted.

The game keeps improving and expanding is now officially in beta stage (I think. The main page of the site still says Alpha...). So far I have spent zero outside currency on this game, though all of my Starbit earnings have been funneled back into it. This game definitely has something going on, and I appreciate the different genre and the incorporation of music into the game (I'll get more into that in a later article)!

In the meantime, if you're interested in checking it out, it is free to play! https://www.risingstargame.com?referrer=cryptoznewb
