
Tricholoma populinum - A hat with a diameter of 50 to 150 mm, first arched, later flat out or irregularly bent, wavy, without hump; margin incurved for a long time; thick, smooth, shiny, gray-brown, flesh-brown, darker in the middle; the skin is easily removed for half a ray, slightly sticky in the wet period, shiny in the dry period and sometimes cracked.
Lamellae dense, narrow, notched, serrated, not whitish, later rusting, reddish brown, blades smooth.
Stem 50 to 100 mm high, 10 to 30 mm thick, cylindrical, at the base sticks and thinner, hard, full, smooth, shiny, whitish, slightly longitudinally fibrous, often bent, wet on the top, browning at the bottom.
The flesh is hard, white, reddish brown under the skin; in a meaty hat; flour-bitter taste, flour-cucumber smell.
Occurrence: Especially in the grass, in parks, along roads and electric traction, in alleys, usually outside the forests, but always under the poplars with which he lives in mycorrhiza; usually grows in groups, clumps, quite rare. From August to October.
Value: Edible mushroom but not very tasty.
