Mercury is a beautiful but poisonous liquid metal. Beyond its silver color, to my eyes, its most beautiful and surprising property is its resilience -I know I am humanizing mercury-. When pressure is applied to a sphere of mercury, it breaks down into smaller spherical droplets, that when pressure ceases can again regroup into a larger sphere.
