US Immigration and Customs, a division of the Department of Homeland Security , today released a bulletin adding Joselit Ramírez, head of the National Cryptinvestment Superintendency (Sunacrip), to his list of favorite fugitives.

And the United States government is now offering a $ 5 million reward to anyone offering information that results in the arrest or conviction of Ramírez, which ICE claims to possess "deep political, social and economic ties to many alleged narcotics chiefs". The move comes on an equivalent day that the Venezuelan government started accepting the cryptocurrency for gasoline purchases. Last week, Venezuela received several shipments of gasoline from Iran, avoiding sanctions imposed by the us .

Ramírez has been head of Venezuela's cryptocurrency department since June 2018. His predecessor was Carlos Vargas, a well known congressman and opposition leader who later worked with the Nicolas Maduro government during the petro's birth.

According to the ICE statement, Ramírez, 33, “was indicted within the Southern District of latest York for violations of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, the Kingpin Act and other sanctions imposed by the Department of Foreign Assets Control Department of the US Treasury (OFAC). "

Earlier this year, the United States government announced that it had been investigating Ramírez for his ties to other allegedly corrupt Venezuelan officials. At that point , the US offered a gift of $ 15 million for the capture of President Maduro and $ 10 million for other prominent officials, like Cliver Alcala, Diosdado Cabello, Hugo Carvajal and Tareck el Aisammi.
