Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the River Nymph card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.
Featured Monster: River Nymph

River Nymph is a water splinter card that costs 4 mana. It starts with cleanse, learns the amplify at level 4 and swiftness at level 8. It doesn't have good stats so the use of this card would be for it's abilities. In particular, I like to use this card when there is a poison rule set because cleanse can remove those negative effects.
Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is noxious fumes and explosive weaponary. This means that the battle starts with each monster getting poisoned and the blast ability. There is also 26 mana available and I am left with the choice of every splinter except for fire.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Bortus. In a match like this, I reducing the magic damage I take will be better because there is a way to reduce the melee/ranged damage I can take. In a way, I think magic is more dangerous. It is also the highest level water summoner I have so I can play cards at the highest level I have.

My plan is just to have a lineup using a tank with enrage and trample up top. Next up is a reach monster that has reflection shield so it won't take blast damage. Then I have my support monster and filler monsters after that.
Round 1

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup due extra armor and reflection shield ability. At the same time, my summoner reduces the damage I take from the magic attacks as that is one of the primary focuses for my opponent. I like the fact that my tank will be enraged when it hits his tank due to the speed difference.
Round 2

The poison hasn't kicked in but I haven't taken any actual damage yet and my opponent will be losing a few of his cards. I was worried I would have a few cards miss but that didn't happen because that backfire ability could hurt when it does happen.

I didn't miss at all the match ended without any trouble. In a way, I thought the match ended too fast because of the blast damage. I didn't even miss a single attack this fight and my team didn't take much damage outside of the poison damage.
Conclusion
The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The lineup I went for was built to reduce the damage I would take from the rule sets. The reflection shield in the 2nd slot reduced the damage I would take from blast and my Venari Wavesmith's +2 armor negated the damage from the opportunity monster my opponent had. Everything worked out the way I wanted to in this match and my opponent couldn't do much against that. I didn't realize it when I built the team, but this team has high speed and every damage dealer or healer had over 3 speed.
The -1 magic from Bortus helped because my opponent was relying on some magic damage to slowly take me out. I am just glad that I had the support abilities to counter this. At the same time, level 4 Bortus also allowed me to play my Diemonshark at level 4 where it has the enrage ability. This decreased the chance of me missing and it also increased my damage. On the other hand, my opponent only had cleanse to remove the poison from his tank. Other than that, there was nothing else happening on his side. It seems like his focus was to keep his tank alive and hope that I die off from the poison. He didn't have any counter to the blast ability and I slowly took out all of his other cards.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
