Almost one out of four tweets on my feed, from the crypto community, have been about Ripple and implicitly XRP, the past few days. About a week ago the SEC announced that it Charges Ripple and Two Executives with Conducting $1.3 Billion Unregistered Securities Offering and ever since, hell fire poured on poor XRP.
The XRP army is strong though and not even one soldier has capitulated... I guess. Why on earth has the SEC chosen to charge Ripple after seven years, and just after it has reached a local peak in a nice bull run, it's beyond my understanding, but I would highly recommend you to read @edicted last post where he dissects the SEC's move and the SEC as an institution.
What's crystal clear though is that XRP dumped hard in the past week. From around $0.5 where it was hovering for a while, soon after it peaked at around $0.72 in the spark airdrop triggered short bull run, the fourth largest crypto by total market capitalization has dipped its nose to as low as $0.18 today, loosing its fourth place crypto by total market capitalization for a while.
Just to get resurrected like the Phoenix, claiming a few cents in price appreciation in a matter of hours, if not minutes, on an official blog post from Ripple as a response in a few weeks to address these unproven allegations against Ripple.
Looks like XRP is not dead yet and Brad is a fighter after all. Who knows, maybe the SEC might even be wrong. I'm not in the position to judge that. I am in the position to reflect on how easily to manipulate people are in the crypto industry, crypto exchanges included. After Bitstamp and Coinbase announced that they're gonna suspend trading, not actually completely delist XRP, most of the crypto gurus on twitter were already guessing who's next and celebrating the death of XRP.
Hard to guess who the next one is, and Japan exchanges already announced they're not delisting... Nonetheless, weak hands dropped it like it's hot and quite some of them have started pouring money into ADA and others not to be left out on USDT. I even wrote a few days ago about the correlation between the XRP start of the fall and BTC spike. It might not be the case but still interesting coincidence.
Personally, I don't see XRP dying any time soon, and if it is to die of this SEC cause, some others will follow, but I do see how easily FUD and FOMO turns markets around, what of a wild west the crypto industry still is and how long of a road we have ahead to make this space a mature one. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy XRP at this point nor to long it, but if XRP recovers from where it felt, in a few weeks, I wouldn't be amazed.
I know, the comparison with BTC is pointless, but if BTC died thousands of times and still scoring ATH after ATH lately, why wouldn't XRP kill one of its nine lives. Once more the media is proven to be the tool to manipulate markets, to take the money out of weak plebs hands and put them into the rich ones and to be biased as hell.
Anyway, Ripple is far from being out of the storm, although it said it will work with SEC's new leadership and XRP is the new Bruce Willis of the crypto world, or is it? Oh, as I was writing this post, another exchange jumped to delist it. It's crypto.com.
Ripple has been naughty this year it seems as Santa doesn't seem to have been generous at all with Brad, Christian Larsen and Ripple.
Thanks for attention,
Adrian
