A little while ago I ran across a game called tronbuild.fun, which is essentially an exact copy of other existing gambling DAPPs that have been around for a while now. Most of their code was publicly available, so I decided that I'd like to use it as a foundation for my own DAPP. Of course, just copying the existing product would be boring, and again, the game is fairly scammy.
In the original game, you buy "property" which gives dividends until the fund is run dry. The "game" involves timing the game to make sure that you get in early enough to at least make your money back. Sure, it's technically a skill based game, and I put about 4,000 TRX into it just for the hell of it, but why stop with such a simple and useless game that's essentially designed to die, when it could become the foundation for a real game that people could end up playing for years?
Luckily, while I'm not the greatest programmer, I have a wide range of experience in various topics, including economics. So at least in terms of design, I'm having no issue incorporating novel ideas into the game. Now I just need to code it and get support from the community. While it seems that certain people have been able to just copy and rip off existing IP and generate hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in profits, I really want to do this right, so I've started a website and have a white paper available (certain aspects might change in the next few days as I finalize the paper).
About World Builder
This new dapp shouldn't really be called a game. I'm not creating a game. I'm creating a world. It will be a robust social environment where people interact with one another. People will "live" and interact within towns, construct buildings in those towns, and maybe even engage in real economic transactions. Think of it like a world building MMO, that's largely on the blockchain. Who knows, maybe we'll be the next Facebook or Google. Or aybe we'll just have some fun making an economy simulator. It really depends on how much support we can get. So feel free to check us out.
