It was a scorching afternoon. However, the intense heat did not dampen Ryan's spirits. He had recently received a scooter for his 10th birthday! Buzzing with anticipation, he rode the scooter and eagerly headed down to the nearby park. A broad smile spread across his face.

Soon, he arrived at a road junction. His mother had always warned him to be cautious when crossing a road. However, because he was so excited, he did not remember her warning. He dashed across the road crossing on his scooter, enjoying the wind caress his face. He did not think about the danger. Nor did he look at the traffic light.

He did not realise that a speeding car was approaching him. By the time he realised it, he panicked. Fear surged through him. His jaw dropped open in shock and he stood rooted to the ground. Luckily for him, the driver managed to stop his car in the nick of time. The car was mere inches away from Ryan's body.

Furious, the driver came down from his car and reprimanded Ryan for acting dangerously without thinking. Ryan lowered his head in remorse. He apologised profusely to the driver for being reckless. He promised the driver that he would be more cautious in the future.
