It has a consistent characteristic of soft-smelling, tasty sake, brewed with subterranean water from the Abukuma Mountains. 2012 saw it win first place in the Nanbu Toji Jikoh sake competition, as well as top prizes in various competitions, including the National New Sake Competition and the Tohoku Sake Competition held by the Sendai Regional Taxation Bureau. It's a potent brewery. With "Higashitokuni" as its core brand, it has been distributed almost exclusively in the local market, but "Ibuki" is a brand newly launched in 2011 by 9th generation brewer Yanai Kenjo. While retaining the brewery's gentle umami character, Ippoki is targeted mainly at specialty liquor stores, which is a different sales channel from its traditional market. There is another company in Fukushima Prefecture, Toyokuni Shuzo, a joint-stock company with the same name and name, located in Aizu Bangecho. It is also a regular brewer of ginjo, and it is easy to get confused with this one.
