I will NOT state that these are my New Years Resolutions because I do not like Resolutions. I think they are promises destined to not come to fruition and it's pointless to assign an arbitrary start date to changing your life for the better. The whole "I'll start my diet on Monday" thing sets people up to fail every time.
With that out of the way though, it is hard to not realize from a accounting standpoint January 1st is the best day to start tracking financials. Every transaction has a date and time affixed to it and when you export your reports you can very easily sort out everything not in the current Calendar year. For that reason I am writing down a list of amount of crypto I want to earn/gain during this Calendar Year.
As you can see from my list it's not crazy goals but it is also a nice little range of crypto's that I want to get my hands on. Now I have MOST of these already except for MATIC and ADA. I have heard some good things about them and I want to get just a little to have on hand to cover fees and such.
You may have noticed one glarring omission from this list if you know me even the least. Theta and TFUEL are missing.
And there is a very good reason for that. I was fortunate enough or smart enough to get in on the Theta blockchain when the prices were stupid low. I saw the potential in that blockchain and to be honest it if my all time favorite blockchain and the one that I see as having the most potential. But I have already setup my staking node with TFUEL so I earn passive TFUEL every day or so. I am not tracking how much I earn in a year because well it's pointless. I do want to get more THETA though but figured I would be buying/swapping it with BTC/ETH or LTC so I didn't want to track that.
The list of crypto's I have goals for are obtained from various sites and services.
Starbits are gained from Rising Star. I love this game and think it has potential as they keep adding to it.
BCH I get primarily from Noise.Cash
LTC I get a few ways, faucets being one and then trading SWAP.HIVE for LTC is another.
RVN, I mine for RVN with my GPU's and again there isn't so much I can track with mining because if difficulty goes up or down I can't control it. However if at the end of year I am less then the 2,000 goal I will swap to meet that goal.
BAN, this is a fun one. I get BAN from running Folding@Home, JungleTV (more on that in another article), Discord airdrops, monkeyslots and other freely obtained way to get BAN.
TLM is earned from Alien Worlds. I have a love hate relationship with Alien Worlds. But I can't deny that I can still make money from playing it, so I will.
MATIC, I am getting this from Faucets.
ADA, again I am getting from Faucets.
SHIBA, is from Faucets as well.
DOGE is from Faucets and from Rollercoin.
I will say this again but just because I left out say BTC doesn't mean I don't intend to get some BTC this year. It is just not something I want to actively pursue or document my gatherings. I also run a Helium node but don't want to track it. I think if someone is serious into crypto then they need to diversify their time and their assets. And that is what I have been trying to do for the past 2 years.
But keep in mind the 2 golden rules about Crypto.
1) Not your keys = not your crypto. If you do not have the keys to the wallet then you do no own that crypto.
2) DYOR = Do your own research. There are scams everywhere. While I always try to do my research before I suggest something to you all I am not perfect and someone sending you something could have made a mistake as well. So please please please do your own research before investing your own time and money into a project.
