I have seen some 'reviews' on here for Brave that lacked a lot of information. I had to take the opportunity to really dive into what makes Brave tick and why it's great.

I have used the Brave Browser for about 6 months now. I used to use Chrome religiously and started to look for a new browser that didn't eat as much RAM as Chrome. I came across Brave one day and decided to give it a go and I haven't looked back since.

I installed it on my main desktop first to try it out and fell it love with it. It does have some features missing but will be added down the road (more on that later).

If you like the speed of Chrome then you will love Brave. If you love the function of Chrome/Chromium then you will love Brave as it is built on Chromium.

Within a week I had installed Brave on my Android phone, work laptop, personal laptop, tablet, everything I could!

Why is Brave different:

So everyone hates Ads. It's just a fact. Brave is taking a different approach to ads and I personally love it. Brave natively blocks all ads, and it is really good at it. It is better than adblock+ for Chrome. So picture a internet without annoying ads that screw up the format of web pages and just look ugly.

But websites need to make ad revenue right? I mean we all hate ads but we love the internet and lets face it its 2020 and the internet is supported by ad revenue. Brave will show you little pop up notifications with a title and brief description of the ad. You can click on the ad or ignore it.

If you click on it, it will open a new web tab for that advertisement or web page. And if you clicked on it you will have earned .05 BAT. BAT is the currency that Brave is built around.

The companies that shows ads pay Brave to show those ads. You get a portion of that money in BAT for viewing it. The company knows that 2 eyeballs actually engaged their ad and viewed it. Which is way more beneficial for them.

You can set how many ads you want to see per hour with the max being 5 per hour.

What I personally love about it is that you need to be actively engaged on your computer for the ads to show up. If you have Brave open and never touch your mouse or keyboard you are not going to get ads. And you have to click on the ad for it to popup in a new tab. It really requires a users attention which is a win win.

The ads that popup are based on your interests and by that it means your browsing history. So you won't get random ads about water polo if you never look or search for anything sport related.

**Brave does not share your browsing history or any personal data with anyone**

Brave claims it loads pages 3 to 6 times faster than Chrome and Firefox. I can't specifically comment on that fact because before Brave I used Chrome with adblock+ so most ads were blocked anyways. I will say though that I never came across a site that look a while to load. Things just work flawlessly as they should in 2020.

What to do with your BAT now that you have some:

There are a few things you can do with your BAT once you have some.

You can send it to a wallet of your choice like Coinbase.

You can 'tip' it to content creators or website. So websites or lets say someone on Twitter can get authenticated to receive BAT tips. What that means is that once you have BAT you can send it to a website you enjoy or someone on YouTube or Twitter. They will get that BAT. You can also setup up automatic donations/tips to people which is nice. It's  a way to give back to people who were getting ad revenue but are not now.

Features of Brave:

My default when you install Brave all ads are disabled and you are NOT setup to earn BAT by ads. You need to opt in to show ads.

It has a built in TOR browser. Chrome's incognito mode is everything but incognito. However, Braves private tabs hides your history for starters but it also routes your traffic through various servers to hide your location and such from the websites. They are also encrypted because why not!

To the best of my knowledge though that is only available on the desktop app and not on mobile yet.

Since it is built on Chromium you can use all the same extensions and themes as you would on Chrome.

If you are on a site that is not working right (and you will find some) you can turn off the "shields" for that site. What that means is that you can stop Brave from blocking ads and such for a website if it needs something to work. I have only ever had to do that on 2 sites and that was work related and made sense to me to do.

Brave will show you how many ads and scripts it is blocking on a given web page. You can change it as you go and Brave will also "upgrade" you to a https connection when available.

Brave has a native integration with uphold to hold all your BAT. Each month you get your BAT paid out to you. It is usually on the 5th of following month. From Uphold you can send your BAT where ever accepts BAT. And when you link/sync your different Brave Browsers together when the payout happens you will automatically get paid from all your Brave Browsers without having to do anything

Brave is on top of it's game when it comes to partnerships. A month or so ago it announced a partnership with sliver.tv which is a esports streaming site built on the TFUEL currency. www.sliver.tv

Things I dislike about Brave:

If you have Brave installed on multiple devices there is currently no password syncing yet. They have stated that it will come at some point but it is just not active yet.

There is a bookmark syncing across devices but it's not 100% perfected yet. Sometimes it likes to duplicate my bookmarks.

While you can earn BAT for viewing ads on mobile you can not send it to your uphold account yet. It is a feature that is coming but is not out yet. So if you earn BAT on Mobile either send it to websites you like or save it for now.
