I hope everyone's New Year is proceeding happily! I am back to my Wednesday evening art zooms. While I think my graphic novel projects would benefit from the sort of slick, marketing style of art that a lot of comic books use, and while I am sure that I could learn to draw that way, I am equally sure that it would take years of additional practice, and that I don't want to delay that long before I draw some of these stories. So I am exploring the cartoon styles of my youth, which are simpler, but arguably much more expressive, because they are so exaggerated, and because they are not so beholden to being realistic.
Tonight, I have devotedly drawn a fan drawing of Tom and Jerry - these characters are obviously owned by Hannah Barbera, or whoever owns their copyrights and trademarks. I have drawn them for practice, to see what I can learn from the copying. All those disclaimers in place, I am super excited about how this came out.

Something weird about Jerry's back arm - coloring is maybe too faint on the upper arm. But that is super easy to fix. I hope everyone is having as much fun as I am :D
Thanks for looking at my pictures!
