Tan line beach study

Every once in a while I find an image on the internet and think "that would be fun to draw" and I save it to my photos on my phone. I try to make a record of where I found the image, so I can credit the photographer or at least acknowledge the reference photo, but sometimes I fail. The reference photo for this evening's exercise was on Tumblr, and I haven't been able to figure out how to save persistent Tumblr URLs, so unfortunately I haven't got a copyright-friendly way to link to it here.

I was interested in this photo because of the folds in his neck due to the way he's looking down, and because of my ongoing frustrations trying to draw water, and because of the way his right thumb is hyperflexed, and because of the tan lines. I thought those would all be very interesting challenges, and I was not disappointed.
