Re-drawing masculinity Figure Drawing Workshop

By DoctorPlatypus | Doctor Platypus | 27 Dec 2020

Today was the December Redrawing Masculinity figure drawing workshop. I like how friendly and enthusiastic everyone is - lots of laughter, plenty of opportunities to see one another's sketches but no mean comments. It's pretty great!

I'm going to include the sketches here in reverse order, so  you can see the 15 minute pose, then the 10 minute poses, then the 3 minutes, then the 2 minutes. Remember that as the sketch quality deteriorates, the amount of time I had to work on them grows smaller, and the less warmed up I was...

I do feel like I am learning from these workshops. I feel like at minimum I am getting better at quickly assessing the correct proportions for each figure, which used to take me a big chunk of my allotted time, so my 2-minute poses were ridiculous stick figures lol. I am actually including about half of those, because I like the expressionistic qualities of them. Anyhow, here we go!

15 Minute Pose

The workshop is held via Zoom, but the models wanted to do a tandem pose. Each of them posed in his own Zoom frame, and we were expected, within the 15 minute time allotment, to combine them into a single pose.

If you made it this far down, wow thanks!

I hope everyone's having a great final week of 2020. Let's make the best of it!
