Last season, we had a Survival Mode event that awarded 250k Glint to players who completed 250 matches with a win rate above 50% and provided feedback on the bots and the overall survival bracket experience. Since the prize is distributed manually, verification and delivery take some time, but it did arrive...
The 250k Glint reward for participating in last season's Survival Mode bracket test event arrived sooner than expected. I was able to make numerous upgrades—leveling up over 10 cards—and my first legendary card turned out to be the exact one I wanted; it couldn't have been better.
It’s hard to quantify, but that amount of Glint allowed me to open 100 Common draws, 60 Rare draws, 4 Epic draws, and 1 Legendary draw. Reaching higher levels requires combining many copies of cards, so come check it all out!
I'll be much appreaciated if you Votes, Reblogs or give any Tips. Thanks and have good reading! 🍀
Splinterlands Road to Battlemage - Lots of Card Upgrades!
Any decision regarding upgrading reward cards begins with information; therefore, a spreadsheet tracking current card counts, the quantity needed for the next level, the gap to that level, and the corresponding Glint cost is essential. After all, the foundation for making choices is having complete information on the subject.
While analyzing cards close to an upgrade, I noticed two Common cards nearing the next level: the Phlegmor (missing 3 BCX) and the Palimpsest Prophet (missing 5 BCX). Both were close to reaching Level 6, where they would gain +1 HP. For cards with low HP, any increase is a significant improvement, as it allows them to survive basic attacks.
I decided to use part of my Glint earnings to buy 100 Common Draws—costing 30k Glint—to try and get the missing BCX for the Phlegmor and Palimpsest. The result was exactly as expected: both cards were successfully upgraded to Level 6. Before making my next move, I checked the status of the remaining Common cards; the Husk and Grimbone need 6 and 12 more BCX respectively to upgrade, but they only gain Speed. The Surgeblade needs just 6 more to gain +1 Shield—which isn't bad—but I’ve decided to focus on upgrading Rare cards next. One notable highlight is that I pulled two Gold Foil cards.
Regarding the rare reward cards, the goal is to upgrade Swampwrought to level 4 to gain +1 magic attack. This is great to use alongside Obsidian; hitting 3 magic damage makes it impactful, whereas anything less is often stopped by the Void ability. Next, I’m looking to upgrade Saltwraith Bulkhead to gain +1 damage, bringing it to 5. I’m not sure if that’s actually ideal, though, since there are ways to shut it down once it hits 5 damage.
Then there’s Gravebrand Warlock, which will gain +1 speed. That’s significant for a unit that starts with only 1; with the ability, it reaches 3 speed at this level. Torrent Sniper needs 4 more BCX to gain +1 shield, reaching a total of 3—a great card to keep in the backline, given how many cards deal 2 damage. Withered Old Sage also needs 4 more cards to gain +1 HP; for a monster that starts with only 3 HP, reaching 4 is quite significant.
My plan is to get the 60 rare cards from Batch 1. As I mentioned, there are many cards to upgrade—requiring between 3 and 5 copies each—and since they drop randomly, you need to acquire a large number of them to guarantee the upgrades. Just a reminder that I still need a few Level 1 copies to use in this season's Survival Bracket 1; I'll share more details about the Survival situation in the next post—there are some interesting updates to the deck!
As expected, all the mentioned cards leveled up. One detail is that the Grove Doomblade actually jumped to Level 5, which I hadn't anticipated. Even more unexpected was that it gained 2 HP at this level, reaching a total of 8—making the card quite tanky. Another highlight is that I managed to pull a Gold Foil Dragonfang Lancer.
Finally, I decided to use my remaining Glint to grab at least one Legendary card for this Survival season, since the maximum level for Legendaries in Bracket 1 is Level 1. The card I was hoping for most was Sten, though others like Azhar, Kori Matsune, or Nullwrought would have been interesting... I got exactly the card I wanted: Sten Slatehelm—perfect at Level 1. I'll go into more detail about it later, as I have a bigger plan for this card...
Lastly, I used the remaining Glint to upgrade my Epic cards. I opened four Epic Draws, and overall, I got some great cards. Wailsworn Specter is a card with Bloodline Tribute that I plan to upgrade, but I’m still missing 2 BCX. In Rila Fen's case, I was missing exactly 2 BCX; she leveled up and gained the ultimate ability, Rest. Finally, Tandi Janda was missing just 1 BCX; she leveled up, gaining +1 Speed and the Slow ability. In my opinion, Epic cards need these extra levels to really start coming into competitive, and these Splinterlands events are proving fundamental to that!
