Re-drawing masculinity Figure Drawing Workshop - February 2021

By DoctorPlatypus | Doctor Platypus | 28 Feb 2021

Today I took the Redrawing Masculinity monthly figure drawing workshop again. They had a guest model, which is always fun, and since there were three models rather than the usual two, there were more short poses than usual. This meant I got a lot more practice on 2-, 3-, and 5- minute sketches today than usual, and I am happy to report that I think there's some slow improvement happening in my fast sketches! For example, this was a 3-minute sketch from late in the workshop today:

Daniel wearing fuzzy blanket an dharness: 3-minute timed pencil sketch

And here are a couple of 2-minute poses from late in the day today:

Two students posing: 2-minute timed pencil sketches

Compare to these 2-minute sketches of Briden from early on in today's session:

Briden, three poses: 2-minute timed pencil sketches

Here are the longer poses:

Briden: 10-minute timed pencil sketch

Briden: 15-minute timed pencil sketch

Daniel: 10-minute timed pencil sketch

Paul: 10-minute timed pencil sketch

Here are the five-minute poses:

Briden: 5-minute timed pencil sketch

Daniel: 5-minute timed pencil sketch

Paul: 5-minute timed pencil sketch

Paul had this excellent set of LED-lit translucent wings he was posing with, and I wish I had had more time to work on the poses where he wore them. I'm afraid I got distracted by the wings and his proportions got all wonky. You'll see even more wonkiness in the wing-equipped sketches to come.

The rest of the two-minute poses:

Daniel in three poses: 2-minute timed pencil sketches

Paul in two poses: 2-minute timed pencil sketches

The remaining 3-minute poses:

This was quite a lot of pictures for you to wade through. Many thanks to those of you who made it this far :D

That's a wrap on February -- Here's to a cheerful March!
