Token, Pump And Rug In Livestreaming: New Crypto Trend?

When I wrote about pump.fun I reported how easy it is to create a token on Solana by spending less than $3 (just deploying the token: 0.02 $Sol). This platform however has another crazy feature that allows you to start “livestreaming”. Like OnlyFans. You can easily imagine what is happening. If you can't understand, I'll bring you two incredible stories that happened in the month of May 2024 in the crazy crypto world.

HANDS (NO HANDS, NO RUG)
Having created a token called $Hands on pump.fun, a man started a live stream on Twitch encouraging cryptocurrency users to invest in his Solana meme coin because he had no hands and was unable to complete the project or rug.

“I have no hands, I can't make fun of you guys, relax,” heavily proclaimed the developer's Twitch channel, NoHandsNoRug.

After a few minutes of live streaming, the $Hands token began to accumulate liquidity. The show lasted until the coin's creator, standing in a bedroom with a sign under his chin, revealed that he actually had his arms hidden behind his back, before running to the computer and immediately using his hands to dump the token in $Sol.
The rug, which took about a few seconds to execute, immediately drained all liquidity from the token, leaving holders empty-handed. In truth, shortly before the start of the live streaming, a user asked an extremely fair question: "How was the token distributed then?". The NoHands scammer earned around 7 SOL in just a few minutes.
The next day, a group of four anonymous friends reportedly acquired a portion of the $Hands supply, confident that it had achieved enough notoriety as a meme to become potentially interesting. They later opened a Twitter and Telegram account for the token; other community members are already building a website.

LIVEMOM
In another stream, a mom performed suggestive “racy” acts during a live feed of her alleged son to pump up his $Livemom meme coin. The stream on Kick.com, titled "Live with mom," lasted just under an hour, inviting viewers to reach certain market capitalization milestones. As the market cap increased, the boy would do something degrading, like eat dog food, until his supposed mother became the star of the show. The scam worked for a while. After the pair abruptly ended their live stream and deleted their associated social media accounts, the token's price plummeted, with early buyers of $Livemom saying the duo seemed trustworthy. The stream peaked at around 1,500 viewers within minutes as the token started pumping.
It is not known whether the two of the streaming are really mother and son, only that they presented themselves in this way. It is also possible that the man in the video is of age, although he appears quite young.

When the token hit the $300,000 market cap mark, the boy said his phone battery was dead. Disappeared from the live feed, the token lost over 60% in less than five minutes. Half an hour later, the stream returned with a new $Livemom2 token but the $100,000 market cap went to almost 0 in a few minutes. The duo deleted their profiles on Twitter and Kick, although after a few days the first token it incredibly rose to around 1 million market cap (due to a group on Telegram that pumped it).
