Beating guts, the beast with two backs, bedroom rodeo, batter dipping the corn dog, bumping uglies, whatever you call it one thing is for sure - for as long as there have been men and women on the planet they have been having sex. So is it any real surprise that some plucky entrepreneurs have made the decision to start a block chain project based on just that- sex.
Sex Mining as it’s called promises to let users meet up for sex with a willing participant in specially designated ‘houses of mining repute’ or, in their own words:
“Sex Mining Houses are specialized “Houses of Mining Repute” — dedicated venues where those wishing to earn money by mining SEX tokens can meet those willing to provide the necessary materials. Two different formats of Sex Mining Houses will be initially available:
1.🏠 Doll Houses
Customers rent a sex doll as mining equipment for a specific amount of time.
2.🏠 Real Houses
Customers enter the house where they can meet, mingle and rent a room to mine tokens with other patrons.
Yup! You read that right, you’ll be able to have sex with a sex doll if that’s your thing. You’ll even be able to live stream yourself having said sex for the viewing pleasure of paying customers who will, in turn, pay you for the pleasure of watching your spotty behind bobbing up and down!
In order to allow for some sense of anonymity (that’s assuming you want anonymity!) Plastic cards-wallets capable of holding and transacting with SEX tokens will be created and distributed in every Sex Mining House. On top of that, it will be possible to rent android phones with the Sex Mining app pre-installed on it for some bonus privacy.
Now I totally get that this isn’t for everyone but let’s put our business heads on for a second here…
Is there a demand for watching other people have sex? – Yes
Is there a demand for no strings attached, recreational sex? Yes
Live streaming of sex raked in over $1 billion dollars in the US alone in 2015 and a study in the New York Times found that the ‘sex industry’ made $290 million dollars in the city of Atlanta alone. So there is, clearly, a lot of money to be made in this industry.
Regardless of our own personal opinions on the subject, whatever they may be, the industry continues to generate enormous sums of money. It does, however, also create an enormous amount of problems – Human trafficking, drugs misuse, violence against women and this is where Sex mining’s ideals become a little more lofty.
“The SexMining project will use the blockchain to allow prostitution to come out of the shadows in all the countries where it’s unlawful, provide legal protection to all the participants and fight violence and human trafficking”
Taking the sex trade off the streets could help to protect both the vulnerable women who put themselves at risk every night and to reduce the risk to their sexual health using regular screening and monitoring of clients and ensuring appropriate contraception is used. This will, in turn, have a knock-on effect of reducing the strain on local sexual health clinics and hospitals and preventing the spread of serious sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV and unwanted pregnancies being terminated or put into the care system.
I agree that on the face of it that this project may invoke a few childish sniggers and jokes but perhaps the regulation and control of these activities is long overdue. Countries such as the Netherlands have a much more modern approach to this and as such are able to better protect workers in the industry and also the Government can then tax the industry. In the UK The Office for National Statistics, which tracks changes in spending habits across the country, found an enormous £12.3 billion last year was spent on illegal substances and sexual gratification. That’s more than was spent on alcohol. The Illegal substances are another story for another day but, regardless, that’s still an enormous amount of untaxed industry that could be benefitting healthcare, education or Policing.
So, the bottom line is that this was always going to happen, Money and sex have gone together forever. I am sure the people behind sex mining are not planning on setting up shop anywhere that, for religious or other reasons, laws would be broken. So, let’s put the legalities to one side for one second (although that is something of a minefield, it’s probably for them to worry about not us) and see that there might be some definite benefit to adopting an adult culture to this industry and that, just maybe, the blockchain with it’s added anonymity and security could provide a perfect platform for this.
