The theme of this week's Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge is Unsung Heroes. This theme seems to be very similar to the last theme of this challenge, as it also addresses the idea of underrated cards that can turn a game around. I believe the difference is that in this case, it would simply be a card that players like to use and believe is undervalued overall, but not necessarily a game-changing card.
In this sense, we'll cover a strategy consisting of cards with Sneak and Opportunity, but with a strong shield presence and other key cards. Let's explore the usefulness of some cards that many might consider below average, such as Arkemis The Bear or Pelacor Bandit, a common-rarity card from the Chaos Legion reward set but with incredible stats. Come find out now!
I'll be much appreaciated if you Upvote, Reblogs or give any Tips ( PIZZA 🍕, PGM 🎮, LOLZ 😆, ALIVE ❤️, etc ). Thanks and have good reading! 🍀
[ENGLISH VERSION]
Match Details
Before discussing the strategy or cards that don't get as much attention, let's understand the context of the match by analyzing the details of mana, elements, and rules. Starting with mana, the match had 47 mana, a very significant amount, allowing for a good variety of cards, with at least three high-mana cards and some more mid-range ones. For elements, there was the option to choose one of three available: water, fire, or dragon. I ended up choosing the water element, and my opponent chose the dragon element with water.
Finally, regarding the match rules, I found three rules in this ranked match. The first is Broken Arrows, which basically prohibits the use of ranged attack units, restricting the match to melee and mage attacks. The next is Target Practice, which gives Snipe to units, but since melee was generally used, it didn't have a major impact. Finally, we had Global Warming, which applies the Burning status to all units at the start of the match.
Ally and Enemy Strategies
In the case of the strategy chosen for this battle, the focus was primarily on melee damage, focusing on three tanks in the front positions, using some of them as team support, such as Arkemis the Bear and Noa the Just. In the last three positions, I ended up choosing some DPS players focused on Sneak and Opportunity to defeat my opponents.
Regarding the opponent, he ended up adopting a similar damage strategy, with three units focused on opportunity damage and one focused on sneak, also called Pelacor Bandit. However, with a slight change, one of his subtanks ended up being a magic damage unit, the Djinn Oshannus. One of the negative points that caused the opponent to lose was that he focused too much on damage and ended up forgetting to add a little more utility.
Arkemis The Bear & Kelya Shields
The first card that I believe many people undervalue is Arkemis The Bear. In this card combination, he served as a very powerful second tank with 11 HP, 3 Speed, and a good 3 melee damage. Furthermore, along with Kelya, they provided allied units with a total of 3 shields, which was extremely useful in this match because the opponents' attacks were largely melee and with sneak or opportunity, and the shields allowed my units to survive longer, dealing more damage.
Pelacor Bandit - Sneak & Opportunity Attack
The next card that is quite underrated in Splinterlands is the Pelacor Bandit. Because it's a common card from the Chaos Legion Rewards set, it had a large number of copies, which prevents many from seeing its potential. Starting at level 4, it gains 2 attack and possesses Sneak, making it very useful in low-mana matches, as it only costs 3 mana. Starting at level 6, it begins to have considerable HP and high speed.
In this match, along with other cards with Opportunity, such as Deeplurker and Kulu Mastermind, they were responsible for the damage they inflicted on their opponents. In the first few rounds, they managed to eliminate the opponent's Pelacor Bandit, since unlike my team, which had 3 shields, they had no shields at all, and even if they had, Noa The Just would have removed it.
