I haven't written for a while, on purpose. But I had to sound the alarm so people don't get caught up in nonsense. The website wormholebridge.com and v1.wormholebridge.com are horribly bugged, and if you use them you may end up losing your tokens.
The issue also deserves attention because it brings light to a nuance in crypto that's very important. The website is a third-party UI for the Solana Labs Wormhole project. It seems as though it's being marketed as a first-party Solana project, but it isn't. The Wormhole bridge actually works much better than Wormholebridge.com.
It can be difficult to tell the difference between what's really first-party and third-party in crypto, but it can be important. Third-party apps add another layer of centralization and a chokepoint for errors. As I found out. It is always best to go as directly as possible when interacting with smart contracts. For me, this meant opening up a Github account, which I had been slacking about doing. Well, the loss of $XX,000 will certainly make you pay attention to the crap you've been overlooking.
The devs maintaining Wormhole are doing their best dealing with this Wormholebridge fiasco, but there should really be more out there about simply not using that website until it's fixed.
For anyone who has their tokens stuck in Wormhole, you are advised to start a Github thread to talk directly with the developers at https://github.com/certusone/wormhole/discussions.
They have been able to fix some issues, but it shouldn't get this far in my opinion anyway. The fault is not with the Wormhole devs, because they are quite active and proactive when people have issues. But Wormholebridge has to be stopped! Stay away from it.
That is all. Maybe I'll start writing more regularly when the market gets it shit together and I don't have to watch it 24/7.
PS - Anybody who comes in with one of those stupid "it worked for me" comments with no real fucking value is getting blocked immediately. I'm so sick of people who lack self-awareness.
