Bitcoin as Myth

Bitcoin as Myth

Probably everyone knows about myths. It may well be a thick book of ancient verses or a funny story about the gods, the Greeks, trolls, or Vikings, featuring Orlando Bloom and Chris Hemsworth.

But I'm talking about myths in a more philosophical sense: myth as a way to learn, describe, explain and organize reality in order to guide us through it. Today we're taught that it's science that does all that. Yes, we learn and organize the Universe with science, through the logic of laws, equations, definitions, theorems, and all that math shit. However, the myth way is still here -- and is pretty much in use.

In my previous conspiracy articles I mentioned several times that if the big guys, the whales, want to make big bucks on BTC, they must make people believe in the Bitcoin story. It's not something like "well, it would be great if people believe it". It's mandatory, it's a must! After all, you simply can't make any profit if you seat at a shitload of shit the people believe being shit, no matter how much of that shit you control...

So you probably already see what I mean. The guys must create a Bitcoin myth to make people believe in BTC.

Note again, I don't mean "a lie" or "a scam", moral assessments are simply not relevant here. I mean a myth as a not-science, something based not on definitions and theorems, but on other principles such as analogy, authority, and tradition.

"But why don't they make people believe in it with science?", you might ask. Well, because with science it can't be done. From the scientific point of view, Bitcoin is literally nothing (well, as long as we don't consider magnetized molecules on HDDs as something). The only merit of this nothing is that it can't be multiplied infinitely and drags along a signed Großbuch of all its transactions since the dawn of time. No matter how smart it may look from the point of math theory and IT technology, on its own, it alone is kinda too little to justify the price of 20K USD per item.

So, Bitcoin needs a myth. Actually, the main ingredients are already present. A mysterious hero who gave humankind a powerful artifact to defy the evil gods, to liberate the oppressed, and to build the new brave world. Yeah, Prometheus and fire. However, people have already noticed these similarities, and I don't know how much shit the sarcastic Bitcoin critics have already poured on poor bitcoiners for that... For many obvious reasons, this way the myth is definitely a no-go.

The myth must be rationalized, that is it must look modern or even scientific. Let's talk about "market capitalization", "investment value", let's point to gold, draw charts and supply figures, moar figures! Such a myth will stick Bitcoin into today's (financial) reality, it will explain in modern words what Bitcoin is, why it exists, where it goes, and what we must do with it. And if even Paul Tudor Jones buys it, it's probably a solid thing, after all.

"So you basically imply that Bitcoin is an overpriced fake and just yet another tulip mania?", you might ask. Well, first, Bitcoin is real (or rather, hyperreal, but it's a story I will probably make some other article about). Second, it's hard to tell if Bitcoin is overpriced or underpriced -- it depends on how successful its myth is. Third, whether it's yet another tulip mania or something more solid -- it depends on how successful its myth is. The guys should explain our reality in such a way that favors Bitcoin.
