As you probably know, the Ethereum network it's supposed to undergo a fundamental upgrade soon, moving from Proof-of-Work (POW) to a Proof-of Stake (POS) consensus algorithm, and the overall new system will be called Eth 2.0 . However, we are still only in the Phase 0, that is both networks are running at the same time, one not excluding the other.

Few days ago, the official ethereum adress went live, accepting deposits of Eths, which will be supposed to receive a staking rewards at around 10% per year; the minimum staking amount is at 32 Eth.

BUT! There is a big but....

The scheduled time for the mainnet lunch is December 1, 2020, 12pm UTC .  For the trigger time to actually works it is needed that at least 524'288 ETH

are staked at that exact time. At time of writing , they are only  52,865 , worth a total of approx. 24 million dollars.

This may seem huge, but is around the 10 % of the total Ethereum needed for the Eth 2 mainnet lunch; if the total will not be met, then there will be another 1 week waiting time.

I really like the spirit behind the Ethereum Fundation, is really one of the greatest in the crypto world, and there is full of enthusiasm about the Ether token future; but this news I'm giving you know, that only 10 % of the needed amount had been put to stake, seems to me that something is wrong here. Many are claiming that there are not enough incentives for people to stake 32 Eth.

In fact, after staking, there will be a long waiting period, till when the Eth 2.0 network will go mainstream (1-2 years? ) , during which the funds staked are indeed freezed. So many are not considering worth the risk. And I think this is a bad point for entire project!

Hope more people will go staking and supporting the lunch!
