Base, the Ethereum L2 built on OP Stack by Coinbase, announced in mid-July that the Base mainnet was open to builders, with a release to the general public coming in early August. For airdrop hunters, that means there's little time left to qualify for a potential airdrop from Base.

Will There be a Base Airdrop?
Base has been very clear that there are no plans to issue a network token. However, I have not personally seen anything that rules out any kind of airdrop completely. I think it's likely that if we see any type of airdrop from Base that it will be in the form of an NFT drop (similar to what Linea did earlier this month), and/or that we might see individual airdrops from projects with their own tokens issued on Base. But again, this is all my own speculation. DYOR, as always.
Get gETH on Base
If you are going to try to qualify for a potential Base airdrop, there first thing you'll need is some test Ethereum on the Base testnet. You can either grab some gETH from QuickNode's Base Goerli Faucet, or bridge test assets over from other testnets. Bridging activities might help you qualify for a potential airdrop on both Base and other testnets, so it's worthwhile to keep other potential airdrops you might be hunting for in mind when choosing which testnets to bridge to and from.
Base Bridge
Base hosts a simple bridge for swaping gETH between Goerli and Base testnets. If you're sitting on some gETH on Goerli, this is an easy way to send some over to Base to start interacting with projects there.
Cashmere Swap
Cashmere hosts a testnet bridge for a variety of individual networks, and at the current time connects testnets for up-and-coming projects like Base, Linea, and Polygon zkEVM - as well as more traditional testnets from Goerli, Mumbai, etc. I find this bridge tends to be one of the most reliable and helpful as it has so many options to choose from.
Hop Exchange
Hop Exchange also hosts a testnet bridge for a handful of networks. Again, I try to bridge between Base and other testnets I'm hoping might result in an airdrop when I can. Hop Exchange does tend to run into some technical issues more often than some of the other projects I'm interacting with on Base, so it's sometimes easier to bridge from one of the other testnet options if you're running into error messages.
Mean Finance
Mean Finance offers users a swapping tool to exchange your gETH on Base to a variety of other test assets on Base. You can also open a test DCA position to earn test MEAN tokens - which may or may not signal the potential for a token-specific airdrop from Mean Finance.
Odos
Odos, like Mean Finance, also offers users the capability to swap gETH on Base for other Base testnet tokens. Many of these tokens can be used on other platforms building on Base, such as the decentralized exchanges I've listed below.
DackieSwap
DackieSwap is a DEX building on Base. There are many test transactions you can run on Base testnet currently, including claiming from Dackie's faucet (in exchange for a retweet), swapping between test ETH and other test assets, adding liquidity, staking (tokens and NFTs), and farming. Dackie is also hosting a points system called QuackPoints for activities completed on Discord and Zealy, which will - just recently confirmed - result in an airdrop of QUACK tokens.
BeagleSwap
BeagleSwap is another DEX on Base, and also hosts a variety of transactions you can complete on the Base testnet. Users can swap for on-chain test assets, add liquidity, stake and farm on BeagleSwap. BeagleSwap also has it's own points system where users can earn points for transactions and for activities on Discord and Zealy. Again, these BEG points could indicate a potential airdrop from BeagleSwap.
CloudBase
CloudBase is also a DEX building on Base. Currently, CloudBase also allows users to run test transactions by swapping for other assets on Base, adding liquidity, staking, and farming.
Summary of Testnet Activities on Base
Have you been participating in any of the above transactions in the hopes for an airdrop on Base? Are there other platforms building on Base that you've been interacting with, too? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts - and happy airdrop hunting to all!
