All Eyes on SEC v Ripple Case After Hinman Speech Reveals

By Yugocean | Crypto Champion | 14 Jun 2023

The infamous Hinman speech has finally been published. Now Ripple's CLO, Stuart Aldeorty, and CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, have demanded an investigation of the documents. Now the eyes of the crypto world are on the Ripple case.

All About Hinman Speech

The email records from 2018 by former SEC Director of Corporate Finance William Hinman in the context of the SEC's lawsuit against Ripple are infamously called the Hinman Speech. The Hinman Speech includes internal discussions at the SEC on the agency's stance towards digital assets. Even after pleas by the SEC, Federal Judge Analisa Torres of the Southern District of New York Court refused to keep it sealed, and now the speech is here.

Story of Ripple's Struggle

Ripple was the first industry in the crypto world to be sued by the SEC. After many declared Ripple a scam, the crypto world left Ripple alone, and its original token, XRP, was delisted from various platforms. Then Ripple fought the case on its own and got rid of the stains one by one, making the crypto world accept them slowly. Now the eyes of the crypto world are on Ripple, because Ripple's victory against the SEC will result in the crypto world's victory against the SEC.

Seriousness of Ethereum Question

The question of ethereum is very important, as ethereum is not considered a security in Hinman's speech. Gary Gensler has never given any explanation on Ethereum, due to which the SEC's stance on the tokens of the Ethereum network remains unclear. This could influence the SEC's decisions in the crypto world. On the other hand, crypto industry giants like Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, etc. are all ready to capitalise on this against the SEC.
