At the beginning of September, I saw that Brave had added a new wallet partner for US residents that would allow me to finally rid myself of Uphold. I am not sure I have ever met a single person who actually liked Uphold. Rather most if not all of us tolerated Uphold because we wanted to access the BAT we had earned.
I have to admit though as an early adaptor for the Brave Browser Uphold was not always as bad as they are now. In the beginning, you were able to transfer your BAT to another wallet or exchange for no fee whatsoever! Sadly though this was raised to 10 BAT then 25 BAT then 100 BAT before it disappeared. It was unfortunate and correlated with worse service from Uphold along with fewer options to convert your crypto to. While others like Coinbase began to rapidly expand the same could not be said for Uphold.
One of the biggest things that caught my eye when I was getting ready to switch over to Gemini was that there was an offer in place for those that did! When you switched you got 5 free BAT for doing so! I have to say this is a rather amazing thing because of the price of BAT! When you look at the price of BAT and see it really runs around $0.70 cents a BAT that means you are earning about $3.50 for just signing up and linking your Brave Brower to Gemini!
Furthermore, with Uphold, nothing was gained for holding your BAT on the exchange. Gemini on the other hand offers an APY for holding your BAT on the exchange! Now it is not some crazy amount as it is just 3.49% APY that's amazing when compared to nothing! Plus since the amount of BAT I earn per month is roughly $4-5 worth transferring it or even really converting it is nothing something I do monthly rather it is something I do every few months once I build up an amount I find acceptable. Now while I wait for the months to pass and more BAT to be earned I am able to at least earn some more even if it is just a couple hundredths worth!
While it isn't ever going to make you a millionaire what it does do is almost as important. It creates a passive income stream that is important. Creating these types of income streams is huge to accumulating not only more crypto but wealth overall! Please note that I am not a financial advisor just a normal everyday guy!
