A few days ago, I wrote the first post and started this series. This post was inspired by a revisit to one of my older posts. In this episode, I will focus on my thoughts and changes in web2. Will the gradual introduction of web3 elements aid in wider adoption?
History
When I was setting up my first websites and blogs, the most popular thing was to simply add Google AdSense and make money from ads. If I started a blog on the Google platform, it was very easy. Furthermore, Google shared (and shares) profits with the blog's creator. However, if you had a blog elsewhere, you had to integrate Google's solution.
Over time, affiliations and partner programs were added. What changed the Internet was the explosion in popularity of social media. However, business forms were not as easy here and, above all, they do not exist for the average person.
How can it change?
Some time ago, Twitter/X introduced the Ads Revenue Sharing option, increasing the possibility of earning money from your own content on, let's call it, the traditional internet. For the purposes of this article, let's define a basic set where you can develop and monetize your content relatively easily:
- Own Blog + Adsense
- YouTube
- Twitter/X
Do you know any others? (I would focus on the most popular and trusted ones)
Problems?
The problems with this are as follows: To be able to earn your first cents, you have to reach a certain level (500 followers on X, 1000 subscribers on YouTube). This is not a solution for everyone and has its own problems.
Chances?
At the beginning, I asked the question: would improving this type of programs in Web2 popularize Web3 more? In my opinion, this is one of the possible solutions - if someone is already working in Web2 in such way ("web3-ready"), it will be much easier for them to transition to Web3 technologically.
In next episode I will focus on web3.
