Garlic vine

By marjuanm | Brushstrokes of the Day | 9 Oct 2025

Hello, thank you for visiting this blog. A few days ago, I found this vine with these beautiful soft violet flowers.

Searching for information on Pl@ntNet, I found that it's a "garlic vine" (Mansoa alliacea). According to Wikipedia, this plant is native to the Amazon rainforest, and its leaves have a garlicky scent (something I didn't verify).

Photo taken in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
