History of the BAT (Basic Attention Token)

In May 2017, Brave introduced the BAT (Basic Attention Token) a Blockchain-based digital advertising token, created by Brendan Eich.

The creator of the BAT was part of large projects such as JavaScript and Mozilla, this allowed him to have an important panorama of the web where it was seen that the money from digital advertising at that time, did not greatly benefit users, customers and advertisers . He then decided to create a token that eliminates all the intermediation associated with traditional digital advertising methods to benefit those involved, calling it BAT.

In its initial offering, the BAT raised around $35 million in a relatively short period of time, which is why it was considered a huge success.

An important milestone occurred in 2019, where Brave Rewards, the Brave feature that allows BAT micropayments to be sent to websites and content creators, was unveiled.

Currently the Brave Browser is growing in terms of users more and more. This allows the BAT to be more relevant today.
