Read.cash, BCH, and Writing

Hey, readers! I assume you guys all have an interest in writing online content. You might publish articles here, on other platforms, or be interested in starting soon. You might even want to know about your various options. After all, there are a number of places you as a writer can post your content, each offering their own benefits and drawbacks.

Some places focus on building an audience or getting paid. Some are great options all-around, but are too crowded to get a proper start. More have specific gimmicks, either paying out in a crypto of choice, or catering to a niche market. It's pretty important to do some research and find a place that works for your needs.

One option that I want to discuss is Read.cash. It is a free space that allows writers to post content and submit to various communities, not unlike Publish0x. Through likes, tips, or engagement, pieces of writing can earn Bitcoin Cash (BCH), making it possible to get paid.

What is Bitcoin Cash (BCH)

Well, in case you didn't know, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is a digital cryptocurrency that emerged as a result of a hard fork from the original Bitcoin blockchain in August 2017. So, it it has lasted for a while. The hard fork occurred due to a disagreement among the Bitcoin community regarding the scalability and transaction speed of the Bitcoin network. Bitcoin Cash was created with the goal of addressing these concerns and offering a cryptocurrency with faster and cheaper transactions.

One of the key differences between Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin lies in their block size limits. Bitcoin Cash increased the block size from 1MB to 8MB, allowing for a larger number of transactions to be processed in each block. This change enables faster transaction confirmations and reduces transaction fees.

Bitcoin Cash shares several similarities with Bitcoin, including a decentralized and peer-to-peer network, a limited supply of coins (21 million BCH), and the use of cryptographic techniques to secure transactions.

Bitcoin Cash aims to be a digital currency that can be used for everyday transactions, emphasizing its scalability and lower fees compared to Bitcoin. This makes it far more versatile for small transactions, such as those used for tipping or payouts. It has gained some acceptance among merchants and users who value its faster transaction times and lower costs. However, it's important to note that Bitcoin Cash is a separate cryptocurrency from Bitcoin, with its own distinct blockchain and ecosystem, and has not gained the same interest.

Read.cash

With that out of the way, you can better understand what Read.cash offers that makes it unique for readers and writers.

It is not a new platform, and many of you are familiar with it. But where does it stand, now?

I have begun posting a simple daily update of my progress as an author to Read.cash. You can check out the start of it here: My Journey as an Author - 1 (read.cash).

It might not surprise you to see little engagement. Indeed, if you look around the site, it is fairly dead. Even with claims of a 100,000 users, their stats page reveals almost no significant activity, and a far cry from their ATH. It seems people no longer use Read.cash, which is a shame.

Let me explain. Starting off, it is another platform, which is always nice. Having been around the internet for a while, many sites have come and gone. Nothing lasts forever. If you only post to a single platform you are taking a risk, as it could collapse at any time, or shut down overnight. Making use of many online communities helps ensure you that one will always be up, and gives you opportunities to crosspost.

Read.cash is also established. It has been around for years, which means it is a little more trustworthy than a new site. If you want people to bother with your work, the maturity of your publishing platform has considerable impact on the decision making process.

Being paid in BCH isn't bad, either. BCH is a fairly good cryptocurrency which is a flat improvement over BTC. Many of the issues of Bitcoin were overcome with BCH, and the fees are significantly lower, allowing for the movement of small amounts of money for tips or payouts.

Of course, that doesn't mean much if people don't use the site. And that gets to my main interest. Can Read.cash be rehabilitated? Right now, the majority of content appears to be low quality freewriting or obvious spam articles. I would say most is AI generated based upon the use of language and formulaic responses. The little activity is pointless attempts to milk the last bit of payouts from the site.

But it does not have to be the case. As an easy to use platform, I find posting my daily updates a breeze on Read.cash. Others could do the same. This is not information which is fitting to places like Publish0x, but general musings which can easily find a home in one of the existing Read.cash communities, or one of your own making. Doing this builds out my personal brand, letting me create posts which I can link to from other sources. It is even possible that I can draw new users to the site, to help create a positive trend.

Personally, I think Read.cash has something to offer. It should not be ignored and left to fade. BCH is a useful cryptocurrency, and a publishing platform that rewards users with it and is geared for its support is just as viable, and equally valuable.
