Prepare your cameras: tomorrow evening the night sky puts on his show!

Venus will get close to the Pleiades, for a wonderful show at  sunset.

Not so often this kind of events takes place: on tomorrow evening, at sunset, the planet Venus will get close to the Pleaides cluster, as known as the Seven Sisters, in the Taurus constellation, running a rare show in the night sky.

Venus is absolutely visible by naked-eye in this weeks, looking to the west at the sunset. This is one of the rules to recognize this planet: Venus has an more internal orbit than the Earth, so it follows the Sun path in the sky. You can see it in the morning, until half an hour before the sunrise, looking to the East, or until half an hour after the sunset, looking to the West. You NEVER can see it looking to the South at midnight!! Be sure of this! If you see something very bright at midnight, looking to the South, it may be Jupiter, but surely it couldn't be Venus! Always remember it!

Instead the Pleaides are probably the most famous Deep Sky Object: is an open cluster. Open clusters are a group of stars, interacting between themselves, starting of 15-20 stars toward hundred of star. Another famous open cluster is the "Christmas Tree", in Monoceros constellation

Tomorrow evening, Venus will get in conjunction with the Pleiades.

What does it mean?

A conjunction is an astronomical phenomenon in which two objects, of which one generally belongs to the Solar System, get themselves apparently close. Obviously they're not close in the reality, but only apparently. This phenomenon is possible because the motion of the Solar System objects is very much faster than the stars, just because they are, obviously, closer to us.

So you can have conjunctions between the Moon and a star, or a planet and an open cluster or even a planet and a planet.

So, why do you want to lose it?? Come on, prepare your cameras (even the smartphone, why not?) and take a picture of this show! Get ready!!
